The Abaco Islands

Only 150 miles from the Forida coast, the Abacos Islands are a boater's paradise, where time seems suspended as if in a dream.

Surrounded by sugar-white sand beaches and punctuated with casuarinas pines and coconut palms swaying gently in the breeze, The Abaco Islands offer legendary fishing and sheltered cruising grounds.

Brightly coloured tropical fish, pale pink conch shells and snow white sand dollars make it a "must" for divers and snorkelers.

Home to the third largest reef in the world, the Abacos are a well-kept secret of tropical- living aficionados.

In this peaceable kingdom you'll find small villages decorated in pastels and gingerbread-trimmed clapboard houses, and bougainvillea-fringed streets where hibiscus of every shade mixes with fragrant oleander.

There are no casinos or noisy nightlife to disturb you, either; only the wind and water, offering their timeless peace, tranquillity, and solitude.

Rain falls year-round in the Bahamas, but even in the rainy season (May-October) squalls or thunderstorms clear quickly.
